As an observer for Minor Planet Research Inc., I have staffed Lowell Observatory's Near Earth Object Search "LONEOS" observatory near Flagstaff, AZ. This is one of the few places where Near Earth Objects (NEOs) are searched for and discovered. 1997 Comet Hale-Bopp photos taken near Tucson, Arizona

Comet Hale-Bopp photographs were taken around the greater Tucson area in 1997. Some pictures were taken from the foothills of Tucson, and others were from Geology-Vista Point in the Santa Catalina Mountains. Photographs with Saguaro cactus were taken near the Sonoran Desert Museum, west of Tucson. Photos with the comet reflecting in the water were taken at Agua Caliente park northeast of Tucson. Exposures ranged from 1 - 25 minutes. The longest exposures were piggybacked on a Meade 8" SCT.
